In 2017, Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it topped the charts for most streamed songs at the time within six months. In 2017, the single Despacito, a mixture of reggaeton and pop has not just brought fresh interest to reggaeton but also sparked interest in Latin music. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs predominantly in Spanish in 2016, compared to two in the year 2015. During the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017, however, 19 predominantly Spanish tracks made the top 100, and in 2020 there were 41 of them. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix of Despacito (2017) famous artists soon began collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna and Maluma on Medellin (2019). The mainstreaming of reggaeton was a concern for some performers in the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, wanted to preserve the style. Rauw Alejandro incorporated electronic dance forms and other genres into his songs.
